One or more complementary detectors are integrated into the door or window frame of an opening to be detected. The intruder will then be unaware of their presence and will not attempt to by-pass them. The framing may be p.V.c. thus requiring no painting, and the aesthetic aspect of the building will not be disfigured since the detectors are hidden. - Detectors envisaged may operate using seismic (spring or balance beam), magnetic (coded or non coded), field effect (capacitance), mechanical (spring, microswitch), optical, or electronic (ultrasound, infra red) sensing. The device may allowa window to be opened for ventilation while providing protection against intruders.
