Stone mining waste is used in hydraulically bound foundation layers for roadbuilding, using an addition of inert sand and/or filler granules to reduce the amount of binder, such that the additives give a volume of mortar which is equal to or greater than the volume of the pores between the stone pieces. Pref. mortar vol. exceeds the pore vol. by at most 10%. Pref. the amt. of hydraulic binder used=2.5-6 wt.%. The additives to the mortar are pref. particulate inert fillers with a particle size of below 0.09mm or sand with a particle size of 0.09-2mm.
