Scalding tank esp. for pig carcasses has semi-cylindrical bottom - around rotating drum with inclined outward arms discharging on to grid bars, fixed rods downwardly inclined to near drum ensuring discharge
The scalding tank for treating carcasses, particularly of pigs, is provided with a drum which is rotatable about a horizontal axis (bearings 4) and carries circumferentially spaced sets of backwardly inclined (alpha) outward arms axially spaced in planes normal to the drum axis. The tank has a semi-cylindrical bottom co-axial with and spaced from the ends of these arms. The drum with arms is partially immersed below the liq. level in the tank whilst one longitudinal edge of the tank is provided with means to discharge scalded carcasses from the spaces between the sets of arms. Fixed rods extend at a downward inclination from points above the edge outside the path of the arm ends in planes between the planes of the arms, their lower ends being adjacent to the drum perimeter.
