Reed mouthpiece for woodwind instrument - has coating of fine particle suspension on end of and partially penetrating reed

The reed mouthpiece for a woodwind instrument comprises a reed block with a free tip, opposing lateral edges and a core positioned inwardly relative to the lateral edges and to the tip. The mouthpiece has a thin coating formed by a fine particle suspension, the coating extending of the tip, but not over the core. This coating penetrates the surface of the reed. Pref. the coating is provided over both surfaces of the tip, and the upper surface of the two lateral edges. The coating may form a loop around the core in the form of a figure.
