A transition metal compsn. has the formula TiCl3(AlRxX3-x)EaLb where R is hydrocarbyl; X is halogen other than F; E is an ether or thioether; L is an organic P-contg. Lewis base cpd.; x = 0-3.0; n is 0-0.5; and a and b are 0.001-0.05. Copolymers comprising sequences of homopolymerized propylene and copolymerized ethylene and propylene, having a low temp. brittle point of -20 (or -40) degrees C or lower and a flexual modulus of =1.35 (or 1.20) GN/m2 are novel cpds. The compsn. can be used in an olefin polymerization catalyst, also comprising an organo-metallic cpd. of Al or of a non-transition metal of Gp. IIA, or a complex of an organo-metallic cpd. of a non-transition metal of Gp. IA or IIA with an organo-Al cpd. Using the catalyst, propylene polymers with flexural modulus =1.00 GN/m2 can be obtd. Polymers of melt flow index 200 (ASTM D 1238-70, Condition N) are produced.
