Unsaturated polyester compsn - contg. glass particles as filler, with improved physical and chemical properties

A compsn. comprises a mixt. of unsatd. polyester and finely ground particles of Na-contg. silicic glass pref. contg chalk, the particles pref. forming 1-60 esp. 40-50 wt % of the mixt. and being of particle size 0.42, pref. 0.044 mm. The compsn. pref. contains glass fibres. The silicic glass is easily available, can be easily incorporated into the polyester and improves the physical and chemical properties of the hardened polymer. Presence of the glass particles in the glass reinforced polyester also improves handling and processing properties of the prod. e.g. unwinding time is reduced by 30-60% compared with conventionally filled polyesters.
