Urethane-modified polyisocyanate prepns., which are new, contg. 5-45 wt.% NCO, are prepd. by reacting (a) organin polyisocyanates, or their mixts., contg. 30-50 wt.% NCO with (b) organic polyhydroxyl cpds. while maintaining an NCO:OH equiv. ratio of 2:1 to 50:1. - The novelty consists in using, as organic polyhydroxyl cpds. (b), 2 alcoholic OH gp.-contg. alkoxylation prods. of OH-no. 112-389 derived from bisphenols of formula (I). R1 = 1-4C alkyl, Cl or Br R2, R3 = H or 1-6C alkyl each or R2, R3 for a 5- to 7-membered cycloaliphatic hydrocarbyl together with the C atom linking the 2 aromatic gps. n = 0 or integer 1-4. The alkoxylation prod. is opt. mixed with up to 90 OH equiv.% of other organic polyhydroxyl cpds.
