Radar or sonar echo simulator for object modelling

A radar target such as a rainstorm centre is modelled as a series of cylindrical elements (3) touching one another, to each of which is allotted a radar reflection coefft. equiv. to that of moderate rain. A smaller cylinder within one of them models a region of heavy rain. Data representing each element (3) are stored as Cartesian coordinates of its vertical axis and ends, with values of its radius (r) and reflection coefft. - A calculator computes the positions of its limits (S1,S2) along an imaginary radial line (5) through the observation point, and the allotted reflection coefft. at points on each side of each limit position.
