Solid or liq. particles are removed from a gaseous medium in a process where a first auxiliary medium is brought into contact with the gaseous medium. The auxiliary medium has 90% (m/m) of its particles of size 50-5000 micrometres, and is brought into contact with the gaseous medium in a first zone. - In a second zone, the gaseous medium is contacted by a second auxiliary medium. This has a 90% (m/m) particle size in the range 0-100 micrometers. Pref. both the first and second auxiliary media are introduced with a velocity in the same direction as that of the gas medium and produce an ave. mass distribution in each zone which is independent of the place of introduction.
