ABSTRACTTitle: In-Tube Condensation ProcessA heat exchange process of the kind in which a condensingvapour flows in parallel paths through a bundle of tubes (1),while coolant fluid flows over the exterior of the tubes. Eachtube is provided with a flow restrictor (4) at its outlet, thedegree of flow restriction being such in relation to thefluid mass flow rate, that the restrictors are maintained fullof condensate (5) across their entire cross-section. Areverse flow of vapour via the outlet manifold (3) into theoutlets of certain tubes is thus prevented by the presence ofcondensate filling the restrictors and thermal inefficiencyresulting from consequent occlusion by non-condensing gas ofcertain tubes is thus avoided.
