TRAPPED ENERGY RESONATOR FOR OSCILLATOR AND MULTIPLE RESONATOR APPLICATIONS

ABSTRACTA trapped energy piezoelectric resonator for oscillatorand multiple resonator applications has a piezoelectric sub-strate with electrodes disposed on each of its major surfaces.These electrodes are further comprised of a plurality ofelectrically interconnected and acoustically coupled sub-electrodes. The resonant frequency of these resonators maybe controlled by varying the separation and, therefore, theacoustic coupling between the sub-electrodes. This resonatormay be used in the feedback loop of an oscillator circuitas the frequency determining element. It may also be used toprovide a resonator on a substrate carrying resonators ofsignificantly different frequency.
