METHOD OF TREATING OIL FIELD PRODUCEDFLUIDS WITH CHLORINE DIOXIDEABSTRACTIn the recovery of oil from wells, the oil re-covered from the wells is combined with other fluidsand particles, including water, chemicals and solids.Disclosed herein is a method for treating the otherfluids and particles by preparing an aqueous solutionof chlorine dioxide and injecting the chlorine dioxideinto the other fluids and particles. The chlorine di-oxide functions as an emulsion breaker, as a reverseemulsion breaker for water clarification, as a bio-cide to oxidize iron sulfide, as a sludge oil treatmentand a hydrogen sulfide scavenger.
