1. 3-Sulphinatomethyl-4-sulphonatomethyl-pyrrolidinium betaines and 3-sulphonatomethyl-4-sulphonatomethyl-pyrrolidinium betaines of the formulae Ia and Ib, see diagramm : EP0163319,P42,F3 see diagramm : EP0163319,P43,F1 wherein : R**1 denotes hydrogen, straight-chain or branched C1-22 -alkyl, it being possible for -NH-CO- or -CO-NH- to be contained in the chain, benzyl, -CH2 -CH2 -CH2 -SO3 (cation), see diagramm : EP0163319,P43,F2 or see diagramm : EP0163319,P43,F3 R**2 independently of R**1 denotes hydrogen, straight-chain or branched C1-22 -alkyl, it being possible for -NH-CO1 or -CO-NH- to be contained in the chain, or together with R**1 denotes a tetramethylene group substituted in the 2 and 3 positions by a sulphinatomethyl group and a sulphonatomethyl group and which is bound to the N(anion) atom of the pyrrolidinium ring, R**3 , R**4 denote hydrogen or methyl, M(anion) denotes the same or different cations from the group H(anion), Na(anion), K(anion) and NH4 (anion) and n denotes 1, 2 or 3.
