The use of a catalyst system comprising chromium and ruthenium in a process for oxidising a hydrocarbon to produce a reaction mixture containing the corresponding organic hydroperoxide of said hydrocarbon and/or a process for decomposing hydroperoxide to provide a mixture containing reaction products of said decomposition reaction, including alcohol and/or ketone products.
