To render possible a complex influence on the adjustment characteristic of a device for varying the angular relationship of two rotationally coupled elements depending on the rotational speed, the spring mechanisms of the centrifugal force measuring mechanism used for adjusting the two elements are designed with at least three concentric helical compression springs, at least two of which act on a moving spring plate clamped between them. As the speed increases, the moving spring plate is moved along against the influence of the second spring, by the flyweight, after an initial movement of the flyweight which acts solely against the influence of a first spring, the third spring being destressed and a further point of inflection occurring in the overall characteristic once it is completely destressed. By the arrangement of additional springs, acting on the moving spring plate in different speed ranges, further points of inflection of the overall characteristic can be achieved in the adjustment range and the gradients of the overall characteristic in the region between the points of inflection can be varied as required.
