A polymeric composition comprises the reaction product prepared by exposing two or more poly (arylcyclobutenes) having two or more aryl moieties and one or more closed chains cyclobutènes fused to each aryl moiety, the aryl moieties are directly bonded to the other or connected by a connecting member which is either (1) a polyvalent inorganic radical or (2) a polyvalent organic radical, to temperatures at which the poly (arylcyclobutenes) undergo polymerization.
