The agent contains at least one active substance chosen from natural metabolic products of guanine or adenine, of nucleosides of guanine or adenine, of nucleotides of guanine or adenine, or of orotic acid. Preferred as active substance are xanthine, hypoxanthine, xanthosine, inosine, xanthosinephosphoric acids, inosinephosphoric acids, orotidine phosphate and glyoxyldiureide. The agent can additionally contain at least one active substance which is chosen from oligonucleotides whose terminal bases are different from adenine, nucleic acid bases with the exception of adenine, carboxyl derivatives of nucleic acid bases with the exception of adenine and amino derivatives of nucleic acid bases with the exception of adenine. Carboxyl derivatives and amino derivatives mean, respectively, nucleic acid bases containing a carboxyl group or an amino group or an additional amino group.
