The closure movement of the pressing mould has superimposed upon it =1 motion perpendicular to it, esp. a motion in =2 planes, typical superimposed movements being vibrating, oscillating and/or rotating movements. Pref. one half of the mould is suspended from the closure plunger by a linkage comprising a vibrating drive such as a double-acting hydraulic cylinder or revolving eccentric, the amplitude of the motion decreasing to zero as the mould closes completely. This method enables deep-drawn fibrous bonded mouldings to be made without cracks appearing in walls of difficult shape. Typically, the binding agent is a urea-formaldehyde resin.
