In a process and a device for producing corner joints in frames made of thermoplastic, in particular rigid PVC profiles for casements and frames of glazed doors and windows, in which the profile sections forming the frame elements are plasticated at their mitred sections and then brought together and compressed in order to weld in the mitre, whereupon, after previously determining the outer contour of the frame front side, the outer ridge of the mitre front side is processed, the invention provides that the plasticated material of the outer weld ridge on the front side of the mitre is compressed into the inner weld ridge on the front side of the mitre and, in the process, the outer contour of the frame front side is substantially reproduced in the mitre.
