In a missile equipped with air-breathing ram jet propulsion the supersonic side inlets and the boundary layer deflector are intended to be designed in such a way that subsequent acceleration is possible, whilst allowing an optimum air supply for the volume and payload in a full-calibre artillery projectile. The object is achieved by a supersonic side inlet 1, which is connected to the body 4 of a full-calibre projectile 5 by way of a hinge 3 and, in relation to the body external diameter d, can be swivelled open and shut on one side in the direction of flight by an opening and closing device 15. At the same time a boundary layer deflector 6 is arranged in the body 4 radially moveably in relation to the projectile axis 8 as a function of the swivelling movements of the supersonic side inlet 1, in such a way that, when the supersonic side inlet 1 is opened, it has assumed its active position outside the body 4, and when the supersonic side inlet 1 is closed it is located inside the body 4.
