Containers or vessels made of glass, in particular glass bottles, are provided with a protective film for protecting the outer surfaces against damage, for example during transport. The protective film essentially comprises a mineral oil, which is applied in powered form at a temperature of from about 45 to 70 DEG C preferably at about 53 DEG C.
