A device for controlling the emergence width in the production of tread strips for automobile tyres or other profiles or webs made of rubber, elastomers or thermoplastics is described, which device eliminates the use of edge delimiting plates between the rotating roller and the upright die parts in so-called "single-roller dies". This aim is achieved by means of a control device which measures the pressure in the die and controls, depending on the measured values, the circumferential velocity of the roller and/or the speed of the screw of the extruder connected upstream of the die.
