The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for improving the climatic conditions at a mining face, in which a partial flow of the mine-air stream is cooled and dried and, via a line (9) laid at the face (3), is uniformly fed back over its length to the mine-air flow. The object of the invention is to improve this face cooling in such a way that favourable climatic conditions are achieved with less space requirement in the working area of the miners. To achieve this object, the invention proposes that the dried partial flow of the mine-air stream be compressed to at least 0.5 bar positive pressure before entry into the line (9), and that an uninsulated steel pipe be used as the line (9) at the face (3). Here, the partial flow comprises at least 10% of the mine-air stream passing through the face (3) and is cooled if need be after compression and before entry into the face (3).
