The invention relates to a lock for law-enforcement institutions, with a bolt which is secured by tumblers and which can be actuated by a master key insertable into the lock from one side, and with a latch which, with the bolt pulled back, can be retracted by means of a handle follower likewise from only one side. In order to develop a lock of this type for use as a cell lock, in such a way that the occupant of the cell can open the cell door from inside and outside during specific times, without enabling unauthorised third parties to actuate the lock, the door handle inserted in the handle follower is arranged on the side of the lock located opposite the keyhole. With the main bolt pulled back, the latch can additionally be retracted by an additional bolt of a locking unit secured by additional tumblers, by means of an additional key which is introduced into the lock from the side located opposite the door handle. Finally, again with the bolt pulled back, the latch can be retracted without a bolt stage, by a key insertable into the main locking unit, via the tumblers of the main locking unit which are connected to the latch via a secured change-over mechanism.
