In the patent application, multi-component mixtures are proposed as working mixtures for sorption heat pumps, sorption refrigerators and sorption heat transformers. The working material used is a mixture of trifluoroethanol and water, the proportion by mass of the water being between 0% and 70%. Absorbents are tetraethylene glycol dimethyl ether or tetraethylene glycol or tetraethylenepentamine. These multi-component mixtures have the following advantages over the working mixtures hitherto used: moderate plant pressures, low electric power consumption for operating the solution pumps, omission of the rectification column for separating the mixture in the stripper and a large enthalpy of vaporisation, which leads to higher thermal efficiencies.
