Appliance for perforating lawn areas, tamped areas and the like, with plate-link chains rotating via deflecting stars, crossmembers connected to the plate-link chains by means of crossmember carriers, and perforating pins fastened to the crossmembers, the crossmember carriers having guide sleeves, in which guide bolts connected to the crossmembers are displaceable counter to restoring springs, the crossmembers moreover carrying control rollers which co-operate with control surfaces controlling the perforating work. Arranged between the crossmember carriers and the crossmembers are joints which have a horizontal joint axis. At least one of the joints of each crossmember has joint parts displaceable relative to one another in the direction of the crossmember. IMAGE
