The invention relates to a humidity meter for determining relative air humidity, which contains a measuring capacitor arranged in a measuring head and connected to analysis electronics by means of an instrument lead. The instrument lead in this arrangement leads to a measuring oscillator which is arranged in the analysis electronics and via a comparator is connected to a reference oscillator and a reference capacitor connected in parallel. The reference oscillator has, connected in parallel to the reference capacitor, a compensating lead which is arranged parallel to the instrument lead and leads up to the measuring head. The instrument lead and the compensating lead are designed in a similar manner, are permanently connected to one another or are located in a common cable sheath.
