The container consists of at least two parts - for example the body and bottom and/or top of a can-shaped or canister-shaped container - which, with their marginal areas to be joined, are brought together while forming a joining area running at least partly unevenly and are joined there to one another in a tight and shock-resistant manner, and in fact in such a way that the marginal areas of the parts are heated up in a seam shape across the joining area by means of at least one beam of energy, in particular a laser beam, until the sheet melts and are thereby welded to one another without the supply of further welding compound so that a container of the type in question, in such a way as to be lighter and more robust and without independent sealing measures even in the painted joint areas, can be manufactured so as to be reliably tight.
