The indicator is used for a multi position switch or transformer and has a circular dial it has larger angle steps and lettering than an existing dial without an increase in diameter. The dial on a shaft has numbers marked on it in the form of a spiral of two or more turns. The numbers are visible through a sliding screen and a cover window each number indicating the switch position. The cover slides radially following a spiral cam beneath the dial with a pin under pressure of a spring. At any time only one number on one turn of the spiral is visible through the window. The dial is held by two mounting screws which are only accessible through holes in the screen so that the dial is mounted with the current registration to the switch position on reassembly after maintenance.
