The burner is for a gas-fired oven or boiler plate, having a bracket for the fuel nozzle and a cover (12) forming with it a mixing chamber for gas and primary air, together with a flame-divider body with holes. The bracket has a vertical sleeve (6) forming a mixing chamber (5) enclosing the nozzle (1), together with a peripheral flange (8) forming a sealed joint with the oven support plate (9). The cover above the sleeve has a central tubular portion (14) enclosing a passage (15) concentric to the chamber, and a peripheral portion extending outwards and downwards near to the plate to form a primary air inlet (18) all the way round, while passages (16') in it lead to the mixing chamber. The cover supports the flame-divider body (13), which is above and extends outwards beyond the tubular portion, and the intervening space between cover and body leads to a peripheral passage (22). Thus as the mixture of gas and air flows from the passage (15) to the drillings in the body its speed is reduced and pressure is raised again.
