Device for protecting a zone on a stretch of water from pollution, particularly by lumps of hydrocarbons. This device, which comprises a substantially vertical barrier delimiting the zone to be protected is characterised in that a plurality of collecting nets 10, in the shape of funnels with removable bottoms 11, open up into this barrier 5, these nets 10 having meshes of size smaller than that of the polluting elements to be retained, and extending towards the inside of the zone to be protected, positioning means 15, 15a holding the bottoms 11 of these nets at a distance from the said barrier 5.
