The null apparatus comprises: a. a body 1 including a bearing surface 2; b. a bottom 3 integral with the body 1; c. a moving element 4 comprising a plate 4a integral with a cylinder 4b, the plate being parallel to the bearing surface 2, the axis of the cylinder being perpendicular to the surface of the plate; d. a potentiometric sensor 5 integral with the bottom 3 and placed between the said bottom and the plate 4a, and e. electronic circuits associated with the potentiometric sensor. The potentiometric sensor 5 comprises a housing 6 enclosing a resistance track 7, a wiper integral with an axial stem 8, the extremity of which includes an end part 9 bearing on the plate 4a, and a return spring 10 bearing, on the one hand on the housing 6 and, on the other hand, on a shoulder of the end part 9. The electronic circuits associated with the potentiometric sensor comprise a setting-up potentiometer 11, the track of which is mounted in parallel with the resistance track 7 and is fed, between its ends, by a constant-voltage source 12, and the wiper of which is linked to one extremity of an analog/digital conversion element 13, the other extremity of which is linked to the wiper of the potentiometric sensor 5, and a digital display device 14 linked to the said conversion element.
