Method approximately doubling the storage capacity of computers and correspondingly reducing the information transmission time between computers

It is applicable to all computers one of whose programming languages makes it possible to store an integer (number lying between -32768 and +32767) on 2 bytes or 16 bits. It uses each of the 5 digits which can be stored on 2 bytes as storage unit which corresponds on average to 3.47 bits in order to store digital and alphanumeric information. The method approximately doubles the storage capacity of permanent memories such as magnetic tapes, floppy disks and hard disks. It lowers the cost of information transmission between computers. It can be used whatever language the information is written in.
