Gilding method applied to false-ceiling elements made of wood, wood fibres or devoid of wood, of the type comprising a die consisting of cutting and non-cutting steel strips embedded in a wooden support, by simultaneously carrying out the operation of stamping this die onto the false-ceiling panel by pressure, and of gold tooling (possibly cold gilding), by means of a hydraulic press having two plates, one of which is removable, which are both superimposed and heating, with a system for unrolling the gilding sheet. Method which makes it possible to obtain an infinite range of patterns, by varying the widths and depths of penetration of the steel strips, and by raising the temperature of the plates, and which enables the decorative patterns to be personalised.
