SYNTHESIZING METHOD FOR HEXAFLUOROANTIMONIC ACID AND HEXAFLUOROANTIMONATE

PURPOSE:To produce hexafluoroantimonic acid (salt) in excellent economicity and safety by adding an H2O2 aq. soln. or alkali peroxide to a mixed soln. of both hydrofluoric acid and trivalent Sb compd. and oxidizing it. CONSTITUTION:Trivalent Sb compd. (e.g. Sb2O3) and if necessary, a compd. selected from among (acidic) fluoride, carbonate and hydroxide are added to =80% conc. hydrofluoric acid. An H2O2 aq. soln. or alkali peroxide having equivalent or not less than equivalent for trivalent Sb is added to this mixed soln. and heated at =0 deg.C - at temp. not more than b.p. of the soln. to oxidize trivalent Sb to pentavalent Sb.
