PURPOSE:To easily form the profiles of a wind direction, an air speed, and atmospheric temperature by detecting the elevation angle and azimuth angle of the antenna of a radio wave and acoustic wave survey device. CONSTITUTION:The antenna 3 is increased in its elevation phi continuously from zero until a Doppler signal (pd) is detected while the wind direction of an anemoscope is regarded as the initial value of the azimuth angle alpha. The transmission frequency of an acoustic wave transmitter 2 is equalized to the Doppler frequency DELTAf in response to the detection of the signal (pd) to put reflected waves from =2 acoustic wave surfaces in phase. While the elevation angle phi of the antenna 3, the azimuth angle alpha is scanned to detect an azimuth angle alphawhere the Doppler frequency DELTAf is maximum or minimum, and the antenna is fixed in the direction. The Doppler frequency DELTAf corresponding to the difference DELTAt between the transmission time of an acoustic wave or radio wave pulse and the reception time of the received pulse of a radio wave is found by a receiver 7 and a Doppler detector 8. The elevation angle phi of the antenna 3 is increased, bit by bit, thereafter and said operation is repeated until the elevation angle phi reaches pi/2; and then the elevation angle phi is decreased, bit by bit, after the azimuth angle alpha is varied by + or -pi and said operation is repeated, so that the wind direction, wind speed V, and atmospheric temperature T are measured by a computer 9.
