PURPOSE:To raise the accuracy of stopping position of a winding core irrespective of the weight of an article to be wound by controlling the speed of a turret motor for turning the winding core by means of pulses so as to reduce its rotary speed and stopping it according to the prescribed number of pulse counting. CONSTITUTION:A winding core 5a is controlled by a control device, and turned with high speed of N1 from a takeoff position B to a position C and the with low speed of N2 to a position D, allowing pulse counting for controlling the speed of a turret motor 10 to be started at the position D. And it is reduced in its speed when the pulse number of P1 is counted, and then the motor 10 is stopped when it reaches a position F, i.e., when the pulse number P2 from the origin D reaches some value having an error within prescribed value with respect to the pulse number P3 to a stoppage target A, allowing the motor 10 to be stopped, and a brake to be energized. Hereby, a distance 14 from the position F to a position G to which the motor overruns due to its inertia force is limited to a sufficiently small value.
