PURPOSE:To remove simply K and Mo from a manganese sulfate soln. for electrolytic manganese dioxide by adding an activated substance of manganese dioxide to the soln. to allow K and Mo to be adsorbed. CONSTITUTION:An activated substance of manganese dioxide is added to a manganese sulfate soln. freed of Fe, Ni and Co to allow K and Mo in the soln. to be adsorbed on the activated substance, and the activated substance is separated by filtration. The activated substance is a porous body of manganese dioxide having superior adsorbing power, and it is obtd. by roasting manganese dioxide ore or the like at 600-900 deg.C and by immersing it in sulfuric acid after crushing.
