NEW MATERIAL:A glycyrrhetinic acid derivative expressed by the formula (R1 and R2 are H, alkali metal or NH4). EXAMPLE:11-Deoxoglycyrrhetinic acid hydrogen.cyclohexyl-1,2-dicarboxylate. USE:A raw material for medicines, particularly antiulcer agents, having antiulcer action and further anti-inflammatory action with low toxicity and believed to suppress secretion of gastric acid and prevent the occurrence of ulcer based on hypersecretion of gastric acid. PREPARATION:For example, glycyrrhetinic acid is reduced with H2 in acetic acid solvent or catalystically reduced in the presence of a platinum catalyst, etc., to give 11-deoxoglycyrrhetinic acid, which is then reacted with anhydrous cyclohexane-1,2-dicarboxylic acid in a solvent, e.g. anhydrous pyridine, etc., to afford the aimed compound expressed by the formula (R1 and R2 are H).
