PURPOSE:To achieve a series of tests for an arrester continuously at a high efficiency, by performing an intermittent circulating motion of a forward conveying mechanism. CONSTITUTION:With a driving mechanism, a forward conveying mechanism C starts an intermittent circulating motion, grasping an arrestor J by a support arm 11A, from first to 16th stations (ST1-ST16) repeating the stoppage and movement at each station. At the ST4, a first precharger F1 is automatically operated to apply a high pressure to the arrestor J, at the ST6, a first insulation resistance tester R1 is operated to automatically perform an insulation resistance and the acceptance or rejection is judged from the measured value. Any rejected product is carried out and removed through a carry-out chute 26A by the operation of a foot switch FS3 of the ST7. Then, at the ST8, the test of the arrester is done with a discharge withstand tester T1. The tests thereof are done with a second insulation resistance tester R2 and a varistor voltage tester BV respectively at the STs 12 and 14. The arrester J which passed all the tests are stored at a specified place through a carry-out chute 26B by the operation of the foot switch FS7 at the ST16.
