METHOD FOR READING BAR CODE AND COMMODITY HAVING BAR CODE READ BY THIS METHOD

PURPOSE:To apply bar code system to small articles by supplementing a blank mask to a part corresponding to a front-end space at both ends in the direction of reading of a bar code symbol. CONSTITUTION:An article 11 is carried by a conveyor 12. A bar code reader 13 scans a bar code symbol 14 swinging laser light at specified amplitude theta, and reads information of the bar code by reflected light. In this case, blank masks 15, 15' that supplement the front-end space which is to be possessed originally by the car bode symbol 14 and complete reading are provided on both ends of the article 11. By this way, application of the bar code system to small articles becomes possible.
