DYE PENETRATION FLAW TESTING METHOD USING DRY DEVELOPER

摘要

PURPOSE:To assure the safety arising from the spraying of a volatile org. solvent by wiping off a test surface with a waste cloth impregnated with a specific detergent. CONSTITUTION:A dye penetrant is stuck to the test surface of a material to be inspected so that the penetrant is penetrated into the defective part of a surface aperture. The test surface is thereafter widped by the waste cloth impregnated with a high boiling org. liquid material or mixture composed of the high boiling org. liquid material and water or/and volatile org. solvent which remains liquid at an ordinary temp. to remove the excess penetrant remaining on the surface without being penetrated into the defective part. The liquid film of the high boiling org. liquid material is formed at the same instant on the surface. A dry developer consisting of pulverized inorg. white powder is then brought into contact with such test surface and the developer is stuck to the liquid film to form the developer layer over the entire test surface. The defect indicating pattern by the dye penetrant penetrated in the defective part is thereby produced on the surface of the developer layer. The problem in terms of safety by the spraying is thus solved.
