PURPOSE:To suppress the increase in unburnt components within ashes accompanying the low NOX combustion and to stop the non-uniform combustion due to a fault of a coal pulverizer, by dividing a pulverized coal burner of a large capacity into pulverized coal burners of a small capacity. CONSTITUTION:In a pulverized coal multi-flame burner 41, two pulverized coal branched pipes 101 and 102 among pulverized coal branched pipes 101, 102 and 103 branched from a pulverized coal supply pipe 10, and one pulverized coal supply pipe 203 among three pulverized coal branched pipes 201, 202 and 203 branched from a pulverized supply pipe 20, are provided in a burner throat 40. Pulverized coals are supplied from No.1 coal pulverizer to the pulverized coal supply pipe 10, for example, from No.2 coal pulverizer to the pulverized coal supply pipe 30, for example, and from No.3 pulverizer to a pulverized coal supply pipe branched from a pulverized coal branch pipe 303. Assuming that the No.2 pulverizer is stopped by a fault or the like and pulverized coals are not supplied to pulverized coal branch pipes 201, 202 and 203, pulverized coals are supplied from No.3 coal pulverizer and No.1 coal pulverizer to pulverized coal branch pipes 303, 101 and 102, and non-uniform wall surface burning is minimized.
