PURPOSE:To obtain a completely unmanned painting line by determining temp. distribution of surface of an object to be painted coated with sprayed liquid paint film while the paint is yet unhardened, discriminating the thickness of the paint film and conducting repair painting basing on the result of discrimination of the thickness of the paint film. CONSTITUTION:In an automatic painting line for spraying liquid paint on an object to be painted which is transported by a conveyor, the surface of the object (a) to be painted is photographed with a first infrared camera, inputting the photograph into thermovision 3, expressing as picture image (b) with a display 5, and inputting the picture image into a paint ejection control device 18. When the object (a) to be painted is conveyed to a first spray gun 8, the liquid paint is ejected and the object (a) is photographed while it is unhardened with a second infrared camera 11. Thus, temp. distribution is displayed, and the paint ejection control device 18 is operated in accordance with the result of discrimination corresponding to the thickness of the painted film, and repair painting is conducted with a second spray gun 15. Thus, unmanned painting line is obtd. without requiring any skilled worker.
