EMERGENCY DIESEL GENERATOR STARTING AIR SYSTEM FOR NUCLEAR POWER STATION

PURPOSE:To improve starting performance by using a starting air from a tank installed indoors when the temp. of the open air as a combustion air is low without satisfying the lowest ignition temp. at the time of starting a Diesel engine. CONSTITUTION:Air stored in a starting air storage tank 6 is fed to the inlet side of an engine supercharger 4 by opening a starting intake feed valve 8 through a starting intake piping 9. And, air stored in another starting air storage tank 5 is directly fed into the cylinder of a Diesel engine 1 by opening a starting air feeding valve 7. Thereby, a low temp. open air is prevented from being taken into the cylinder of the engine 1, favorably carrying out the ignition of fuel when starting the engine 1. And, after igniting, as the air pressure in the air storage tank 6 is lowered, the operation of the engine 1 is continued by using an intake system which feeds the open air into the supercharger 4 from an intake system piping 3 through an air feeding filter 2.
