PURPOSE:To perform titled sampling without blowing down by supplying inert gas to both tuyeres adjacent to the tuyere from which coke is to be sampled upon decreasing of air flow, stopping the hot air to the tuyere, opening the tuyere cover and conveying the coke into a container by the gas in the furnace. CONSTITUTION:The hot air for the entire tuyere of a blast furnace is decreased stepwise in pressure and flow to about 1.0kg/cm2G. Inert gas is then supplied through an annlar pipe 18, branch 20 and valves 22B, 22C for the inert gas to the tuyeres 10B, 10C adjacent to a tuyere 10A from which coke is to be sampled and thereafter hot air valves 6B, 6C are closed. The hot air valve 6A of the tuyere 10A is closed in succession and the tuyere cover is opened so that the gas in the furnace is blown together with coke 12 at the tip of the tuyere 10A. The coke is received in a coke container 24 and the gas is discharged through a duct 30 so that only the coke 12 is deposited in the vessel 24. The inert gas contributes to suppression of the chemical reaction of the sampling coke 12 and cooling in this case.
