PURPOSE:To determine the number of compressors to be started and the bypass valve closure timing in such a manner as not to cause backflow and turbine effects by making use of the fact that the compressor choke flow is proportional to the compressor r.p.m. CONSTITUTION:A function generator 100 calculates a station flow Fn under the rated condition from a station flow Fs and a station input pressure Ps, and a function generator 101 presets the range of the number of working compressors such that the choke flow corresponds to the flow Fn in an r.p.m. region capable of closing bypass valve for determining the number Ns of compressors to be started solely from the flow Fn. The output Ns of the function generator 101 is supplied to a compressor start command unit 105 for starting only Ns compressors. Further, a function generator 102 calculates an r.p.m. Nc corresponding to the compressor choke flow, and a function generator 103 calculates a bypass valve closure timing Ts.
