PROCEDURE FOR THE PREPARATION OF A STRAIGHT-FALSE SPRAYING TEXTURED POLYESTER YARN

The yarn is formed by pref. false twisting and drawing at draw ratio of 1.3-2.0, a tow of extruded polyester filaments having a birefringence of at least 0.025; a crystallinity of 30%; a maximum extension before rupture of at least 180%; and a coefficient of friction between filaments of not greater than 0.42. Pref. the false twist is heat set at a temp. greater than 300 degrees C and the filaments contain 90 moles.% polyethylene terephthalate and have a surface conditioning agent e.g. polyoxyethylene glycol or pyrophosphate coated kaolinite. The yarn has a tenacity of at least 2gm. per denier, an extension before rupture of 20-35% and a linear deniser variation of plus-or-minus 6% to plus-or-minus 15% allowing it to be processed at higher speeds without rupture.
