METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR AERIAL EXPLORING RADIATION CONTAMINATION OF TERRAIN

Radiation dosage levels are measured at a number of different heights above the ground in order to determine the actual value of the parameters in the equation describing the attenuation with height above ground. The resulting values can be used to determine the level of activity at 1.0M above ground. Appts. comprises a dosage level meter connected to the inlet of a function matching unit and a calculator unit. The inlet of the function matching unit is also connected to a manual setting unit. Using this unit the height above ground of the aeroplane is fed to the function matching unit which calculates the parameters of the equation representing the attenuation of radiation with altitude on the basis of the input data i.e. radiation dose level and altitude. These parameters are transferred to the calculator unit) together with the value of the radiation dose level at a given altitude obtained from the manual setting unit . From the input data the calculator unit determines the value of the radiation dose level at the given altitude and feeds this value to the indicator .
