This machine is a development of a conventional machine which uses probe pins on the ends of horizontal measuring brackets. The brackets are linked to a movement detector. The probe pins are mounted one above the other, rather than the side-by-side arrangement used in the conventional machine. The pins are cut off at an angle and have small contact balls so mounted that they are on a horizontal axis. The balls locate in the grooves of the inner screw-thread of the object-under-test.
